chicago?

i've relocated to chicago for the summer, folks, and am immersing myself in it fully. the beach is a 5 minute walk away and millenium park is where i lunch. however, i do also have a life in cincinnati and this post is to show off a few images from my week home. this is sort of a filler post until i get a little more established in these here parts. anyway. enjoy. they're amusing if nothing else.

beautiful.

so whenever i feel completely uninspired, i always watch this video...which is probably why my aesthetic never changes. ha. anyway, it's completely gorgeous and combines live action environment with otherworldly abstract "thoughts." it was created by meridian and the song is "daydream" by tycho.

i recommend watching it in "full". apparently the proportion of the site and the proportion of the video are not syncing well. sad.

do i need this? yes. yes i do.

from kate spade's fall '09 collection. which means, it's only time before i can oogle it in some saks somewhere. le sigh! it's completely meant for me!

p.s. many apologies for the lack of updates. school sort of took off and now it's quieting down again, which means i can once again woo the public with my witty blog posts.

not a political post...

i was scanning through yesterday's big picture and thought the apocalyptic tone of the g20 summit protest was interesting. i don't agree with the protest at all, but i find the method fascinating. and i figure everyone should be aware of what's going on anyway. so check it out.

oh and i made my first successful over medium egg today without turning it into a scrambled egg. triumph!

capacity motion design studio...

so dan sent me this awhile back and i meant to show it to all, but i've forgotten. that is, until i embarked on my studio revolving around motion design and was happily reminded of this. capacity in california rebranded cartoon network and i present that montage. it's on the company's website under "click here for the rebrand montage." a little long, but totally worth it. the visuals are stimulating and i love the utilization of the Nood toy as a means of creative expression. but enough of that--i just think it looks cool.

"you're looking east and i'm lost out west..."

back in cincinnati. this city smells of trash and awfulness. very short list of things i wouldn't do to be back in somerville, honestly.

but i thought i'd leave you with photos of one place in particular i'd rather be:

hamilton pool--austin, tx
stole these pictures shamelessly from flickr.

the fatty from cincinnati...

so julia and i, determined to spend our last weekend together in boston, decided to spend an evening in a retro speakeasy type joint called beehive. lucky for us, it is not only a bar AND a restaurant, but also, a music venue. so, we got to spend some time being amusingly serenaded by the two man gentlemen band. as you can see from the photo i've included, they're two charming fellas with an old timey but still cheeky feel. not only that, but they're also splendid musicians. one plays banjo (as well as acoustic guitar and other stringed accoutrements) and one plays the bass. both are armed with kazoos. anyway, i'm hesitant to leave you with some music since they're so much more magical live than the recordings give way to. but eff it, i think you all deserve to hear them. i present, the two man gentlemen band.
